Anywah haha my point is… if I love a kid MORE than that I don’t know if I want kids. I feel like I’m already stressed out at the Waitimgoated WTMGTD shirt But I will love this thought of anything happening to mum and dad and if I love a child more than that I would never get any sleep as I would be constantly worried that something would happen to them. It’s not that you love them *more,* it’s that you love them *differently,* in a way that is truly impossible to describe. I feel the same way about my parents. I feel just as strong, in a different way, about my children. The trope that “you can’t understand until you have a kid” is so fucking annoying… until you have a kid. Then it will hit you hard that “oh shit, people were right.” Having kids is exhausting and amazing and frustrating and the worst and the best thing ever. It’s a hell of a ride. I thought I would want kids, then it came time to have them, and I was so out! Finally had them, and man oh man is it a trip. But holy fuck, don’t have a kid if you aren’t into it because it is a LOT. And nonstop.

If this helps you conceptualize it, imagine what your parents are to you – how much they mean to you, how much they taught you, etc. Now imagine getting to be that for someone else and watching them grow from being a baby to a full human adult over decades. But having kids has actually brought me closer to my dad (mom passed away sadly when I was 25) because I can see what he was going through raising me. It’s different.
