Def sounds like your civil rights were violated as well. Unfortunately it’s a hard lesson learned about why/how citizens can interact w police. You also have no legal obligation to speak with police(unless officially stopped and given a lawful order to identify yourself). Ask them to leave their contact info and you’ll reach out to them once you and your attorney can. You really don’t even have to answer the door if you don’t want to. If they have a warrant to search the premises, they’re supposed to announce that before they break your door down as well. Agreed. They absolutely were wrong, but I was an idiot to think that just because legally I wasn’t in the Time Flies When You’re Rewriting History! T-Shirt moreover I love this wrong, that it shouldn’t have occurred. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances that I absolutely learned lessons from. Sadly, that includes knowing that police will overstep the law even against people who aren’t doing anything illegal. So is “disorderly conduct,” from my experience! I’m not sure what I did that was “disorderly,” but I’m thankful to not have a criminal record. Absolutely perfect reply, the only other note I would add in is go in on a Monday. There are weekly services that only happen on specific days (changes facility to facility) but the one I know is widespread is if you’re in when the Friday judge is out you are in through the weekend. I was going to put that in as well, but I thought my response was a little long winded anyway and didn’t want to make the poor girl read an entire novel(even though it ended up being one)
