THIS! I’ve worked in a nursing home and most of the Texas Rangers World Series Bound ALCS 2023 Champions Shirt in addition I really love this residents’ had family visit MAYBE a couple times a year. Paid caregivers will take care of you when you’re old whether you have kids or not. My grandfather was financially successful in life, he was able to pay for 24hr in home assistance in his last few years. But my Aunts would watch them. One day, my Aunt came in an asked the aide if he had gotten his medicine. The aide laughed and said “no, that stuff doesn’t work, I gave him orange juice”. My Aunt called the agency and she never came back. Point is, Yeah, having kids is rolling the dice, but you roll the dice putting your life in the hands of underpaid caregivers too, particularly if you don’t have anyone to trust who can watch them. I mean, it is annoying to hear, and it isnt a good reason to have children- but as someone who works in healthcare it’s not a factor to pretend doesn’t exist.

Yes, there is absolutely no guarantee that having children will provide you with care as an adult, and I’ve seen that- but statically and anecdotally it makes a massive difference, and at least some minimal involvement is definitely the Texas Rangers World Series Bound ALCS 2023 Champions Shirt in addition I really love this norm, and total estrangement the exception. Even if you end up in a nursing home, or hospice, in my experience and that of my many friends, those with children benefit from “squeaky wheel” syndrome having children to advocate for you can mean the difference between attention and neglect. It can mean someone knowing you well enough to sense something is “wrong” and demand answers. Without children, expect to pay more for personal nursing care, and for simple things like groceries and rides places – things the majority of my senior patients rely on. Even those with children who live in other cities can lean on them to make that online grocery order, or call to book them appointments, or use their phone to summon an Uber for them. Even things like just setting up for paid care can be difficult for those without families- almost every single home care client we have is booked through a family member, for instance. It’s not the truth many child-free people want to hear, but after a long time working in healthcare and LTC it is a factor. Those who are estranged from their adult children or who never had them would be wise to put in the legwork early to figure out what resources are in their community – because in my experience single men, without children or who did not raise their children are often the most isolated and vulnerable when old.
