Because you’re ruining everyone’s fun, taking a balanced perspective. Get out there and throw around some slogans and talking points. Doesn’t matter if everyone else is, too. Self proclaimed centrists come off as smug at best and woefully uninformed at worst. The right views marriage as a religious matter and wants to ban lgbt marriages. They also want to restrict portrayal in media, portrayal in public, ban media that contains references to lgbt, some want to outlaw being lgbt. What is the centrist point between someone being allowed to live free from persecution, and it being illegal for them to exist?

Same reason being bi is looked down upon in the Teletubbies hurt everyone the Simpsons shirt but in fact I love this LGBTQ community. Both sides want you to pick one, not a mix of both. The problem with centrism is that it can be, and often is, just as dogmatic as far left or far right ideologies. Centrism doesn’t have any policies of its own, it’s a reactionary stance that is only able to be defined between two other ideologies. Centrists often call for compromise in such a way that nobody gets what they want, centrists included. “Seeing good in both sides” isn’t as nuanced of a view as it appears, and it usually means that you have no real opinions of your own. Centrism accomplishes nothing on its own. It stands for nothing and endorses nothing. A world governed by “centrism” would only be slightly less awful than a world governed by fascists.
