It should be obvious why all of them are hated, but if you don’t understand why 2 is, it’s because it’s just incorrect to assume that because some extreme ideologies have had disastrous consequences, that means all extreme ideologies are. It’s also based on the The Peanuts Lawn Darts Duck Or Die shirt and I will buy this current cultural conception of “extreme”, meaning that as the overton window shifts, centrists logically must shift their positions, so there are no positions held because they believe in them. There are of course people that are none of these things, but when people complain about centrism, that isn’t what they mean. People who just happen to hold an equal number of positions on the left and right are few and far between, and get caught in those stereotypes.

I think that very few things are as grey and nuanced as people like to believe, that there isnt some “compromise” we can get on most moral/political issues. Really, it seems quite black and white, its either one or the The Peanuts Lawn Darts Duck Or Die shirt and I will buy this other. compromising usually dissolves an arguement and makes it inconsistent. if you took any issue on a particular side and drew it to its logical extreme, it would probably follow the rest of the side’s logic and values. when you compromise those values you get a result thats somewhere murky and in the middle with no strong basis in any logical/moral arguement. Centrism is realizing there is propaganda on both sides and finding your own truth amid a sea of echoes. With how divided everything is, if you make a statement that doesn’t 1000% beat the drum of the loudest in the room on your given side, you’re called a dirty centrist who is pretty much siding with the opposite team because they’re evil and you are not allowed to have nuanced views.
