And those that see each side as a balancing act where if led solely by extremes in either direction, it will end poorly. In the Tank Dell 3 Houston Texans shirt What’s more,I will buy this united states, the democratic party is centrist and the republican party is far right. Imagine 0 being most conservative and 100 being most liberal, current gop is at 10 while the current democratic party is at 60. GOP has moved so far in recent years that the “center” perspective has also shifted, so true centrism would be closer to democrats. 2 party system sucks since you have to vote for the ultra conservative GOP or moderate democrats, Bernie is the only one who is actually liberal Theoretically of course. Using a one dimensional scale on which to position people is always doomed to be inaccurate at an individual level.. Because existing the the political center, the arbitrarily defined origin in a multi dimensional spectrum, is to have no values or opinions. It’s what right wingers call themselves when they don’t want to be called right wingers.

I think the Tank Dell 3 Houston Texans shirt What’s more,I will buy this most glaring issue is that others will usually not allow you to have your own, independent stance on various topics. It is always “you’re A or you’re B” You’re not allowed to agree with some of A and some of B even though that might be a completely reasonable opinion to have. It’s like the same people who just want to embrace solidarity with kids in Gaza, but they don’t offer any solution or understanding why they get hurt. Centrism is not a position, it is the absence of a position. You don’t actually look at an issue and draw your conclusions; you let others draw their conclusions and put yourself “somewhere in the middle”. Politics isn’t static. It changes between time and spaces. If you were a centrist regarding women’s rights in Afghanistan 100 years ago, that’d make you a far right extremist in America today. When the question is, say, “should we have a universal basic income”, then “I think both sides make good points” is a non-answer. It’s a yes or no question. Should we do it or not? That’s why centrism is commonly seen as a cowardly position.
