I’d say that’s probably reasonable, or whatever you’re putting away these days. Chances are they’re the Suppot love cure courage care lung cancer awareness shirt Also,I will get this biggest users considering they probably eat the most and play games consoles the most lol. After uni, I paid my share of food and utilities, plus an extra £100. So basically a third of all bills except the big one, rent+council tax. Helped me to manage my money properly but still save enough to be ready with deposit once I was able to move in with my girlfriend. Usually ended up being about £350 or so a month if I remember right. (Pre covid btw). Of course they’ll get a bit of a shock when they move out and realise rent/bills/food costs closer to 60 or 70% of their take home. Just whatever you do, steer them away from getting an expensive car on finance. Its the worst decision that young people make when living at home with a lot of disposable income. They have little concept of what 300 quid per month (excluding fuel, insurance, maintenence) does to their finances.

Live in West Yorkshire and been paying £40/week from when I moved home from uni till I moved out. Enough for me to save to move out but enough to help the Suppot love cure courage care lung cancer awareness shirt Also,I will get this cost of bills etc. As others have said, completely depends on where you live and what rent prices are like, 40-50% of price of renting seems reasonable but if you are saving it for them later on, have a look at what they’re spending and their approach to money etc. If they’ll spend it on £500 shoes etc, maybe charge more so it’s not something they’ll do and they’ll learn the value of money much easier. I started when I was 17 earning just over £11k as an apprentice, didn’t change when I moved to a different job on £22k. Brother/Sister both went to uni, and got decent student loans, plus both worked part-time throughout. Brother a duty manager at Co-op. Sister is a personal trainer. Neither have major outgoings for vehicles, phones ect as they’re both incredibly good with money and buy stuff outright rather than long-term contracts or finance.
