Last two hours of ON shift we zone, except we do HBA and pharmacy as well. And an hour after opening it’s back to a mess. Zoning only matters when management is expecting visitors. This isn’t a target where they don’t leave the store at night until it’s all zoned. Walmart is a company that would rather treat everyone like a swiss army knife, than to respect what people apply for. I’ve seen my store throw people who’re primarily stocking, up to door, like they’re to be AP now. They have you take all of these ULearn courses, in hopes you one day go out of your job description. I’m glad one of my TL has casually mentioned aloud ahead of time, when I was thinking of broadening myself, that if I had chosen to develop myself more, it wouldn’t matter. My pay would be the same. Ya know something I learned in Inclusive leadership class. Is technically ON don’t zone, we just deal with freight. Now that varys from store to store. But if all stores went by the books, Cap 1 and 2 are supposed to be the zoning teams

One day they had EVERYONE zone the Real Women Love Football Smart Women Love The New York Yankees 2023 Diamond Heart shirt in contrast I will get this entire store, took them 8+hrs with a TON of people, then complained a few days later why we couldnt zone the entire store with 8 people and just 2hrs of time Store I was at had a zoning team, would come in about 3pm with cap 2 if I recall right. They’d also act as backup cashiers and greeters… that quickly fell apart though and regressed to pulling the dairy and frozen associates, which made rotating products next to impossible when you were expected to zone for four hours. Progress is measured in hours, getting ahead in any regard was only keeping one’s head above water from drowning until the start of their next shift where they’d have to fix the exact same problems all over again. Honestly, if we had a zoning only job I would be all over that shit. I love zoning cause I like being left alone and I like organizing stuff (I’m also really good at finding expired food) Just give me a walkie to call me to urgent areas and let me zone in peace.
