This is a really good take from my experience. It comes down to risk/reward. As someone who has lived in both places and has gotten a good share of the Philadelphia 76ers Tobias Harris 12 American professional basketball player T-Shirt but in fact I love this “reward”, I feel more stable in Europe making less. I still want to make US money, but I need to live in the meantime as well. My coworkers in pharma are about 30% immigrants (so educated, professional, white collar and not poor people who have nothing to lose). I’ve yet to meet a single one who wanted to move back to Europe, Asia, or Africa. Several have 2nd vacation homes they visit for a month each year, but that’s about it. I work in biotech and used to work with a Chinese cardiologist who was working as a regular scientist in the US and making more money. She was far too qualified for her job in the US and still didn’t want to go back to China to be a doctor. This is simply the right answer. It’s unfortunate the rest of the comments are so biased… “American professionals are better” LOL the entitlement

I see many comments that Americans work more hours and have a higher COL, but don’t see any that American professionals are better. And in 20 years at a global corporation I’ve never heard anyone say that. Not to sound like a dick, but it really sounds like you should have been better at saving. For someone that works those crazy amount of hours, I assume you make good money. At 60, you should have enough saved to not worry about losing your job. But I guess everyone’s situation is different. Glad to see some people are breaking it down better, and not just “Because America is better!!!” lol, heavy copium huffing here. I earn less than half, probably less than 1/3rd, in the Philadelphia 76ers Tobias Harris 12 American professional basketball player T-Shirt but in fact I love this UK than what I did in the US, and am actually putting more into savings each month.
