They have friends, they have family, you can’t keep your kid in a bubble 24/7. I like pop, I’ve never given it to my child but he’s absolutely snuck some from my drink when I’ve got to the bathroom. You say in your edit “well don’t give kids treats that will give them a dopamine hit that they will crave”, but then you’ve got someone else telling you you’re abusing your kid for not letting them have the Halloween candy they trick or treated for.

It’s frustrating when literally all week your kid can’t get enough of corn dogs, and then you make them for lunch one day and they react like you put live bugs on their plate.
