To long. To many characters and didn’t know what to do with them. Action sequences where it was impossible to tell what Waa going on. Horrendous dialogue. I’m kinda surprised people liked this so much. Yeah it’s kind of a mess and the mystery aspect of it isn’t even really interesting. There’s too many subplots, not enough left to the imagination, too much spelled out in dialogue. Im one of the few who thought this movie wasn’t groundbreaking and just decent It’s my first time seeing a Batman film and I was severely underwhelmed. Perhaps because I thought that it would be some super different, deeper version of a superhero story like people promoted it to be. When it’s just.. another superhero story. Most of the scenes I could call out exactly what would happen next. There were so many ass-pulls in this film. So much exposition. So many shots focusing on the young boy. I mean, there were nearly 4 shots exchanged between Batman and this child. We get it. What really killed it for me was that I saw the trailer (days) before going in. The trailer exposes damn near every fight scene and leaves nothing to the imagination. The cup scene? In the trailer. The fight scene with the guns in the darkness scene? In the trailer. The car chase scene? In the trailer. I was so incredibly bored. If I didn’t already know what would happen next with the story, I knew what would happen next in a fight.

Really, you bring a guy out to be arrested, there’s this long drawn-out scene of dialogue and I’m not supposed to expect him to get assassinated? Is this movie supposed to be predictable? The only time I was slightly surprised was when Catwoman nearly killed a man by kicking him off of a tower. Of course, he doesn’t die; Batman and irrelevant “always-there” side-kick save him. I would’ve loved if the film even ONCE and showed me it was different. Catwoman should’ve killed someone. But I knew she wouldn’t and Batman would stop her from going down that road. There are no stakes. I would’ve even understood why she would leave town after if she did something like that. But as it stands she left because..? She’s a cat and cats freely travel? Because she mentioned picking up strays earlier in the movie? This is so underwhelming. It’s funny how they tried to make it seem super noir and dark because the city was flooded. The problem with superhero stories is that they treat civilians like backdrops for the hero to do their thing. So while the city is flooding and I’m supposed to feel defeated, instead I’m going “ah the props are in danger, I guess.”
