I don’t even eat meat, but Americans making a huge deal specifically about eating horseys will never stop being weird. If I remember right there are countries that make a much bigger deal about eating cow. I mean if your looking to point fingers. There’s a big portion of Americans that eat alligators. Eating reptiles is way fucking weirder than what’s essentially a skinnier cow that can run fast. Why do you see that as weird? Do you see eating dog or cat meat as normal too? Everyone draws the Nancy pelosI is a badass shirt but in fact I love this line somewhere, most Americans just happen to draw it at horses. I don’t see how that’s weird. They’re not animals normally bred for consumption. They’re work animals just like most breeds of dogs. They can be trained to do different tasks and provide a benefit other than food.

I see a lot of confused people in here comparing them to cows or pigs but they’re being dishonest about their comparison. Cows and pigs aren’t work animals and don’t provide a financial benefit to having them around. These animals are really only useful for their meat which is why you don’t see cows pulling farm equipment or people riding pigs. Normally people form much closer bonds with animals like horses and dogs due to the Nancy pelosI is a badass shirt but in fact I love this effort put into training them and time spent with them. It’s not much different than a farmer feeling a bond with their truck that has served them for many years. I find it weird that you can’t understand how Americans don’t particularly like seeing horses being eaten. If you can understand why people don’t like seeing dog meat than you can understand why people don’t like the thought of horse meat.
