If you want to come in early or leave late, by all means do. But there are no “unwritten” rules here. All the My Name Isn’t Judy But I’m Still Going To Judge You shirt Besides,I will do this rules are in the handbook. If you are meeting the hours in your contract/rules, you are fine, especially if no one has mentioned anything about it to you. You may not stand out by doing this, but I am of the opinion that workers shouldn’t give more hours than necessary/than they are paid for. Depending on the type of job/pay style/designation this may mean working extra in some weeks and being able to work less in later weeks to make up that time, but I believe employees should average around the amount of time they are supposed to work, not more. I have been told (and mostly agree) that you should get in before your boss and don’t leave until after your boss leaves. You should never be the last in, first out especially when you are the newest. Maybe come earlier to work. And leave when they leave.

Do you have to come in every day? If not, I would recommend staying home some of the My Name Isn’t Judy But I’m Still Going To Judge You shirt Besides,I will do this days as your presence will be less noticeable and then staying later on your working in office days. Be the first one in and last to leave, or at least relative to your manager and their manager. If you want to succeed in a corporate job you need to play the corporate game. You can relax it a little in a couple years when you’ve proved yourself and hopefully had a promotion. In my experience you should leave a bit after your boss or one of the mid-senior people leave. IMO you get some more flexibility the more seniority you get. Once they trust you to get your work done it doesn’t matter unless it’s billable hours I am of the belief no human should work outside of the hours of 8-5 EST and M-F only. I strongly believe humans should not work and businesses should not be open outside those hours. So if I were you I would work those hours
