You should ask your manager directly what hours would work best and also how they would like you to handle/communicate flexing the Monster Mash Shirt and by the same token and schedule. A good manager will give you an honest and direct answer. If they don’t give you clear enough guidance (which can be the case in a close knit team with more seasoned folks), I suggest modeling someone on the team who is an unofficial leader. There’s usually someone who is high performing and trusted and that should be a safe bet to model their hours. Honestly, you never want to be the last person in, no matter how late you stay. If you have all your work done in your hours work you need to leave. Unless you’re getting overtime do not get into the habit of giving your company your time. If they need you to be in at 8:00 get in at 8:00. But you leave on time.

So many of these comments are absurd. Honestly just come and go WHEN you are supposed to. IDGAF about staying in late because am I even getting paid to stay later than I should have? Besides, we all have lives outside of work. This comment section shows how intensive grinding culture and workholicism is. It’s sad. I’m so grateful for my job/hours after reading this thread. I’m in at 6 out at 2:30, I have young kids and I get to be at all their stuff every time. Tball, soccer, drs appt, dentist appt, etc… If you get all your work done who cares, working extra for no extra money is stupid and won’t make any difference to anyone and likely set a president to be taken advantage of soon. Once that happens it’s time to move on. Just do your job and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing All these people saying “it depends” are wrong. Show up no later than you are required, leave no earlier than you are required. That is literally it. Draw the Monster Mash Shirt and by the same token and line now so you can maintain healthy boundaries for the rest of your life.
