I’ll give it that a poached egg isn’t a beginner dish, but there’s a multitude of ways to do something better and he instead passively aggressively weaponized that incompetence. They would starve in the wild by themselves. In any case. Not being able to cook is total BS. Choosing not to cook is the only right answer. Cooking is not rocket science.

Almost sounds like deliberate bumblefuckery so you’d stop asking him to cook. maybe this last assignment was a little advanced for someone who literally “can’t” boil water or use a microwave to heat up leftovers. but honestly, it’s a “won’t” more than a “can’t”. as you say, even a child can follow simple instructions (readily available on the internet) to boil noodles or make a piece of toast or whatever. if this is a dealbreaker for you then it’s okay to dump him. I agree with you completely. You would have another child to look after for all your days together. Your children would grow up (which he never did, obviously) and become independent and have lives of their own. He would continue to need . . . everything. I have a question: Do you know how he was raised? I thank my MIL often because she raised her son to vacuum, do laundry, cook, mop, keep a tidy place. Please do not second guess your decision. I say this as a married man who works at least 80 hours a week and cools and cleans everyday for my wife and kids: you made the right call.
