My guess is that they’re looking to hire someone from the Metallica Sad But True Poster Shirt Also,I will get this outside and you’re just there to keep things going till a replacement is hired. Alternatively they’ll keep you there but you’ll never achieve the arbitrary goals they set, so you’ll have the responsibility but never the pay. You go to a restaurant and ask for a basic meal for the asking price. The waiter looks at you strage for asking that, but bam, you get your basic meal. Now ask if you can have a bigger meal, but you pay them only if the meal brings comfort and you’ll pay them later once you’ve decided the meal was worth it. See how that goes. I always use this analogy or another using a mechanic. Gets them every time. Hard dedline. In writting. As someone who was shafted for $1.50/hr in my new role for over a year, working 50 to 70 hour weeks, I can flatly say, its a lie. At this point in my life experience, I’d start looking for a new job, and tell them, “After serious contemplation if your offer, I have to decline the added responsibility without equitable compensation. Thank you for the opportunity, but I can’t accept at this time.” Then leave, before they throw you away.

Get it all in writing and make sure the Metallica Sad But True Poster Shirt Also,I will get this deadlines and pay raises are set values not some day or rate in the future. Also find out what the old boss was paid. I am an asshole….i would carry a digital recorder in my shirt pocket. Nah fuck that. Pay raise or you aren’t doing the extra work. My wife and I have both been through the “we’ll give you the title and raise later” trap. What they are really doing is making you do the extra work for free while they look for a younger cheaper replacement for your old boss. Odds are they won’t even tell you they hired somebody else and you’ll just show up to work one day to find out you aren’t getting that promised raise or title anymore at their introductory meeting. They’re just buying time themselves to hire someone else and have you being responsible for the whole thing for free. No rise? No thank you. Trust me, being a manager without a salary is bs. No tiki, no laundry!
