Update your resume with the Metallica Enter Sandman Poster Shirt in addition I really love this role and title and start job hunting. At a director level it takes around 3 months to find a new position. It’s a good opportunity. Take it. Make sure that as you do so, you position yourself to leverage the new position to seek another job. If they try to pull a classic “promotion, no raise”, you still have the promotion on your resume and can use that to get a new job. It’s a win for you as long as you are not loyal to the employer. Loyalty to employers is no longer rewarded. Do not do anything additional without the compensation. Once you agree to it, they’ll easily string you along. You’re the one in the bartering position because they need you. Value yourself and set boundaries. Not only get this in writing as others have said but make sure they define what, exactly, they need to see to “be comfortable”. Don’t leave the goals and objectives you need to reach to get the pay bump open ended or unstated. Also put a timeline on it.

If it’s not in writing say no. My company pulled this shit on me and it took me 2 years to finally wrangle a raise out of them. F*** this, secure the Metallica Enter Sandman Poster Shirt in addition I really love this bag, get the raise up front or it’s never going to happen. You’re just going to be duped into doing more work for the same money. Tell them they’re either going to pay you market rates to do the job or they’re going to hire some stranger at full price then find out the hard way if he works out or not. The problem is “when they are comfortable”. For all you know they will string you along and you will end up quitting after wasting a couple of years. It was told to me I unfortunately can’t have a pay raise just yet and they want to see how I do in this role. They want to help me “grow into it”.
