At the Metallic America Shirt and I will buy this end of 2019 a colleague refused a promotion, they didn’t want to manage the team. I was managing another smaller team so they moved me over (I didn’t have much choice the way it was presented). I took over the bigger team and it took 2.5 years to finally get the promotion. My boss is retiring next year and they have named me successor. I will not be making the same mistake again and will insist on the pay raise or will refuse the role…but not with enough time for them to find some other schmuck. I’m a currently a business line director and will become a department VP. You tell them no. You only accept an upward title change with an increased salary. Tell them you are not interested until you are fully given the position and that you are not going to try out for it like you’re some unpaid intern.

Metallic America Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I’d suggest asking for that in writing because it sounds like they want you to take charge and double your workload or more for no more money. If were you, I wouldn’t do it. Don’t let them take advantage of you. Come work for us. We are masters of giving you just enough hope of a future pay raise while stringing you along. If you take this job without extra pay and perks I do not feel bad for the Metallic America Shirt and I will buy this failure you will eventually feel. People giving you good advice. Our job is to pay as little as we can. Dont be foolish. Been there. Never again. Don’t do it. Doing more work for no pay. “But the skills you’ll learn”. No bitch. Pay me. If you truly want ME for the job. You’ll pay me now. Otherwise they’re just asking you to cover until they find and hire someone else. Hard but polite pass. I would not assume extra responsibilities without a corresponding bump in pay. Unless you’re certain that shiny new title on your resume will pay dividends down the line.
