I remember one day I was working in the Merry Welder Job Love Christmas Shirt and by the same token and booth, and I timed on my stopwatch any time that I was actually doing work. Look, I don’t know what you do for a living, but you know how you now work about half as much as you did when you started your job, because you know what you’re doing? It’s like that. Just because you have a lot of spare time doesn’t mean you’re fucking up.

I always wondered how the focus changes from movie to movie but thought, maybe because different cameras were used by different film studios. literally I’ve no idea what I’m talking about and how a machine like that works. The gate means the opening where you put the whole film into the machine? My first job was in a theater and when we switched to digital the booth job was only 1 hour of labor per week lol. The days of practical effects were absolutely amazing, but today’s films with all of the after effects and cgi, combo Ned with practicals, it’s difficult to tell film from reality. I very much appreciated reading your comments about this. This whole aspect of technicolor is also why it has such a unique appearance. It’s pretty evident when you are watching a technicolor film and when you’re watching something on post technicolor film (WarnerColor, for instance). Not necessarily true. There’s a lot of Technicolor three-strip pictures where they kind of just look like regular movies. Caine Mutiny is one that I always come back to on that. It’s more than just the Technicolor three-strip process or the dye-transfer printing process (which could still be done from a one-strip negative, as it was all the way through the early 70s). There’s a lot that goes into it, like getting the lighting right, getting an art director and a wardrobe supervisor who know how to make it pop… Technicolor wasn’t just a thing that made everything better. If it was, it wouldn’t have died as quickly as it did.
