Deafness is not an absolute, black and white situation, like many disabilities. It comes on a spectrum. The majority of deaf people have at least a little bit of residual hearing. Well, I don’t hear it aaaalllllll the Matthew Slater New England Patriots thank you for the memories shirt and I love this time, just when it’s super super quiet, I can start to hear a slight pulsing from my heart beating. But I can not exaggerate enough on how quiet it is and how quiet my surroundings have to be. To be honest I can’t tell if I’m hearing it or just feeling it, but inner ear area does have a lot of blood flowing through it to so… I have this, it sounds a little worse/louder than yours, it can be distracting and even drown out sounds around me, and happens more when I don’t get enough sleep or am really stressed. I have really low blood pressure and haven’t noticed a correlation to blood pressure and the sound; I also had several MRIs related to migraines and I don’t have any indications of pre-aneurysm or leaky vessels(which is what I was kind of worried about, that I was “hearing” blood from a leaky vessel). It’s a form of tinnitus and when I started taking Topamax for the migraines it helped a ton with the sound. Pulsatile tinnitus is more likely cerebral pressure related than blood pressure related. Also linked with depression and anxiety.

Depends on the Matthew Slater New England Patriots thank you for the memories shirt and I love this kind of deafness. Sensorineural deafness is a nerve problem, and often leads to hearing nothing in its most severe form (though there exists a spectrum, as others have pointed). The other main type is conductive hearing loss, where the hearing loss is due to the external or middle ear (like chronic earwax compaction). You’d still be able to hear internal head sounds like pulse or grinding teeth, for example. Yes – I have total conductive hearing loss in my left ear but the nerves are fine, so I can hear internal sounds on that side and also through bone-conductive headphones. Using them is how I realized at the age of 40+ that songs can be recorded to have different sounds on either side (stereo! It’s for a reason!). Being deaf does not mean total hearing loss the same way that being blind does not mean complete loss of vision. It varies from person to person.
