Sounds like a seriously mismanaged Org. A manager can’t really be effective with anything more than roughly 7 direct reports. 24 is just completely chaotic. There’s no way he’s an effective manager for all of those ICs. I’d also imagine every one of those 24 ICs feels like their manager is not readily accessible or championing their individual needs The manager thing is inexcusable and shouldn’t require managing up to stop noshowing 1:1s. However the Louisiana Baseball Fourth of July Classic 2023 logo shirt in contrast I will get this frequently cancelled director meeting invites is actually a good example of poorly managing up because it indicates that the director does not think their attendance is that necessary, and even if it might be, their opinion about it/any mild annoyance they perceive about the invites may be more consequential than the opinion of any other important attendees

It’s actually the Louisiana Baseball Fourth of July Classic 2023 logo shirt in contrast I will get this opposite. Since they are likely quad booked all day they are effectively picking the most urgent and important meetings. My advice is to be top tier and you’ll fly past them eventually or find a different path to it. Plan and execute effectively and consistently. Make sure you are pushing the needle forward and play the game to some degree. Even if you don’t like it. This has nothing to do with poor time management and everything to do with being extremely busy and extremely in demand. It’s part of the reason execs often have (or at least share) assistants or secretaries. Their days are already completely blocked out in meetings, and then you have to factor in meetings that run long, sudden developments you have to make time to deal with immediately, rescheduling all the things you displaced to make time for the unexpected, etc not to mention regular life stuff.
