I feel personally attacked. I am not a Director but I am usually in meetings from 7AM till 4pm. With a 15 minute lunch in between sometimes. I have overlapping meetings and I just ignore those. And I am usually doing three things during meetings. Reviewing and answering private chat… So I would not take it personally. I hardly ever talk to my boss except twice a week because we are both so busy. We are usually in the Make America Great Again 4th Of July 2023 shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same meetings so I know where he is at. But when I work with someone else and they accidently show me their outlook with 2 or 3 meetings for the ENTIRE week, I am raging with jealousy, Just because something is important to you, doesn’t mean it’s important to someone else. If someone doesn’t RSVP then the default expectation should be that they aren’t coming. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

If you arranged a meeting with this person, explained to them that without their presence/decision X people will be blocked delaying Y by Z weeks and they said they would be there I wouldn’t be too salty about it. I do not want to work with you OP. you sound like an obnoxious new grad. Everyone else is the Make America Great Again 4th Of July 2023 shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this weird one right? Surely it couldnt be you Your director may actually have very good time management, they’re just prioritizing. It’s very annoying for you and may put you in a hard position but if they’re your director presumably it’s not so bad that it’s going to have bad business outcomes. In my experience Directors get invited to too many meetings as-is and a lot of the time they aren’t really needed, it’s more of a way for certain folks to “get visibility” to try to make the director think they’re working hard, or to not have to make decisions themselves. Deferring up the chain unnecessarily is kind of a no-no in some cases as the entire point of management is to delegate responsibilities.
