But there isnt much joy. So we search for answers. And we rely on who we can with whatever trust we can muster. Read, push ourselves when we need to and take time for rest. I lost my 10 years of my life- maybe more dealing with deep depression. It’s important for me to remember when I’m down that it will pass eventually like a cloud. I still am pretty heavily depressed but what is helping me currently is when I’m meditating to recognize thoughts and emotions when they happen and to label them “thinking” or “feeling”. It helps me recognize when a depressive mood has overtaken me and when I label it when I’m not meditating it helps my overall state of mind to know that the mood will pass. The other thing I’ve found are really good friends who also struggle with depression who remind me when I text them about how my depressed mood will eventually pass. I’m not very good at these things and don’t have a regular meditation practice but when I do it helps tremendously.
