American centrism isn’t centrism. American centrism is right wing. It’s just a diluted, “say the Lil Rapper Fanart Yeat shirt moreover I will buy this quiet part quietly”, prettied up version of right wing elitist ideology. The rich still get richer and the poor still get poorer, just quietly. Fence sitters allow atrocities to be committed while they avoid taking a side because they think both sides have points. When one side is literally advocating for the extermination of individuals and the elimination of rights of others, then any good points that side had are out weighed by the moral imperative to call out genocide. US Republicans for example, any legitimate point they might have on economic issues (Which I would gladly debate as a disagree with most of those points) are not really something we can discuss because the rest of the plank wants to erase my marriage, kill me and my friends, and strip us of our right to autonomy and full legal rights.

Lil Rapper Fanart Yeat shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

So when a centrist comes along and says, “Well they make some good points…” the Lil Rapper Fanart Yeat shirt moreover I will buy this only thing they are doing is smearing a coat of banality over the evil that is hiding behind those “good points.” It’s usually because anyone who identifies as centrist or moderate tends to be a republican in disguise. May not always be the case, but it seems to be that way more often than not. Centrism isn’t a political position. Most people I’ve seen describe themselves as centrist are either “both sides suck so I refuse to participate” or they don’t entirely line up with one side or the other 100%. I’ve seen people who self describe as centrists that when you actually get talking to them about how they feel about various topics will have a clear left or right bias but they don’t acknowledge it because they don’t agree with other parts of that ideology (most people aren’t 100% ideologically consistent anyway), or they don’t want to be perceived as someone with left or (more usually) right leaning opinions.
