I think it stems from not wanting to feed a child many times throughout the Kolten wong state signature American professional baseball second baseman T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this day. The thing people don’t realize is that young kids often need to eat more than 3 times a day: smaller portions because their stomachs are small yet they are burning energy much faster than adults as they are constantly growing and learning as well as doing every day tasks. People think just forcing a child to eat a whole adult sized meal in one sitting will keep the kid from being hungry 2.5 hrs later…and then get angry when the kid can’t eat that much. It didn’t start out as abuse. It started out of necessity. It stems from the “Great Depression” were family’s often didn’t have enough food and everyone was expected to eat what was put in front of them without any complaints. Habits that children learn in their childhood continue into their adulthood. Since they never learned a healthy relationship with food, they don’t know how to help their children have a healthy relationship with food. It became abuse when parents started using punishment to enforce their beliefs.

A few years before my grandmother passed, we had a discussion about food. She was staying with us after falling and breaking her wrist. Obviously, with a broken wrist, I was making her plates for her. One night, she finally tells me, “I’m giving her too much food. I tell her I’m sorry, but she doesn’t have to eat everything I put on her plate. My mom was abusive in many ways, but the food issues were some of the worst.
