Like it or not, in a lot of media and culture, we are the KASSIUS OHNO both as part of their development territory NXT T-Shirt and I will buy this “default” culture. So you almost don’t notice it. It’s not ideal, but culture is seen by a little people as things that are different than their own experience. For example, white american clothes aren’t “cultural” but any clothes different than what white americans wear are considered cultural. White american culture is like the vanilla of culture. It’s like the default, that we all see all the time. (Again – because white american culture has dominated so much media for so long.) Vanilla is a flavor still, but sometimes you forget it’s a flavor and almost see vanilla as the default, lack of flavor, and it’s only the other ones that are real flavors. (And to be honest, when I was a kid, that’s what I thought vanilla was! I thought it was just what you called something that didn’t have any flavor added.) Because they’re most typically the ones that ignore their OWN culture/lineage/heritage/ancestry for the resounding label of ‘white.’ They hardly thread through themselves culturally so why would anyone else? I just had this conversation the other night that there’s SO much culture lol but it’s just kinda not cared about in the same way as other prominent cultures care about theirs. lame if you ask me!

Think about the KASSIUS OHNO both as part of their development territory NXT T-Shirt and I will buy this difference from the West Coast, East ,East, The South etc. The U.S. is huge and diverse! To generalize culture from such a wide pool isn’t really possible, but maybe by state.. I was having a fight about this on an instagram post. It was a white woman dancing in the market of a West African country somewhere. Typical Tik Tok type thing. She was dressed in the local attire and some of the people commenting hated that. I pointed out that when black people do ballet that’s fine but a white woman in African attire that’s appropriation?! They responded that ballet wasn’t a white cultural thing. I was really confused. I’m like how is it not? It was invented in Italy and France and Russia added to it. How is it not a “white thing”?
