I wouldn’t really say they prey on desperate people, in my experience, the desperate people you’d think use tinder, usually give up after not getting matches asap, and the other people I know that use tinder, just use it for hook ups and one night stands, I’m sure you’ll find most people on tinder aren’t looking for love, just to hook up, in that context, offering a subscription isn’t all that predatory I disagree. If the app is known to never work, then you have no reason to stay on the app. But if you can look at your friends who met on Tinder and got married, then you have hope, and you stay on the apps. At some point tinder is just gonna come up with a model where guys pay women to go on dates with them, the guy will lose all his money, tinder will make some money from it and the incentive for women will be they’ll be paid a percentage of the transaction which will make more women use the app as a source of income and which will drive more dudes onto it and willing to pay because they need sex (which they prob won’t get) and female attention in their lives There’s already a website that does that called ‘what’s your price?’ (or something to that affect). It’s a sugar baby “spin-off dating site” where men literally put up money to take women out on dates.

I guess they prey on desperate people but I can’t help but feel they leave out a massive market for a cheaper price. Its probably because so many things have this psychological effect where there are too many cheap people who still wouldn’t pay 10, and they just figured out that they maximize their profits at 50. IE something like 50% of the people who would pay 10 would also pay 50 so they make more at 50 even if they lose 50% of the buyers.
