Those same people are either in government, in a revolving door of government, or perpetually have the hand of government do their bidding. Essentially, government is a tool of the wealthy to maintain and protect their interests. But there’s a catch: the wealth that they have is produced by regular working people. All real wealth is created by the work of people transforming the land and materials into physical material goods. The wealthy don’t partake in labor. Through their ownership of the land and factories that produce the wealth, they extract a portion of the value produced by workers. The size of that portion taken determines the level of poverty that working people must contend with.

They are unnecessary and impose harder conditions on the mass of people. (Socialism) The wealthy people are wealthy because their planning is what allows the system to function at all. Without these leaders, the system would become dysfunctional and it would lead to lower standards of living for everyone. (Capitalism) Basically, it comes down to either you are for socialism or you are for capitalism. The centrist ground here is similar to FDR, Bernie Sanders, the Nordic systems and to a lesser extent western Europe. The problem with the centrist position is that from the capitalist perspective, it hinders the system. Making the wealthy pay back to the workers through the government lowers the return on investment and encourages laziness.
