It’s like Descartes proclaiming, “I think, so therefore I am” and using that as justification of his point of view. It can technically be true, but it also assumes that the person making the point is right and that any sort of opposition is unrelated because the source of truth is a subject unknowable to anybody else. It’s smug and a dumb argument that doesn’t actually open anybody up to understanding. It just keeps people unwilling to argue and anyone that first interacts in this way would likely assume (in bad faith) that all people are like this, much like people with bad experiences with Christianity applying it to other religions. That said, it really doesn’t fucking help that many Christians dont exactly have the best track record, especially in the bible belt where its used to hurt others, are predominant within western society, and are especially predominant in a nation that still believes it is THE world superpower (despite plenty evidence to the contrary).
