They could definitely be more clear about their expectations, but definitely fuck your “it’s all about me and my needs” attitude. Okay mate settle down. There’s no need to attack us for getting up early and missing the traffic to AND from work. I used to work 7-7 manual labor. By your logic, you should have worked until 7, bro, because people can do manual labor at that time. It’s normal. I mostly worked in manufacturing and ending the day about 4pm is designed to get the finished product shipped before FedEx / UPS finishes pickups. During COVID, we did 4 x 10 and started around 6am. I was “expected” to be in my office / production support job by 7, but I used to take 1 hours of PTO every day just to come in later. Eventually, I just wore people down and started coming in 7:30 to 8. Every other week I gotta get up at 4:30 to get to the hospital for shift change to meet pilots and med crew at 6. There’s no reason for it. I can do my job at any point in a 24hour period. It’s completely arbitrary with modern communications but we don’t let progress stand in the way of tradition. I’ve worked a similar schedule in the distant past. Loved getting off at 3 and being able to still potentially get stuff done during business hours that normally I’d need to take PTO to do. Need to get to the bank and not fight Saturday morning rush time? Sweet. Quick mid-afternoon shopping trip at a quiet mall/store? Sign me up. Not having to fight the 5-7 pm gym crowd? Sweet.

Fair if you don’t like those hours. But they have benefits and plenty of people do like them. Some businesses rather like them. Depending on the day of the week( due to the bus schedule/and construction it varies) I start between 830 and 9. My boss doesn’t care if I leave/arrive a bit earlier or later to catch my bus which is super nice. It’s normally prep and paperwork the first and last 45 mins of the day anyway. I went the opposite. Stated career in a 7-3 place and took a job at 9-5/10-6 place. When They told me to show up around 9 on my first day I thought they were kidding. I never fit in. I was dying as the day drug after lunch. Then my boss asks my co worker why I leave at 8 everyday and If i really want to work, when we are working 10-12 hour days.
