The company ended up growing to have 8 developers, and a full product team by the Godley High School Class Of 2024 shirt and I love this team left, so it wasn’t all awful, but it had its trade offs. I would steer away from it unless you’re desperate for the cash or experience. The biggest one I don’t see anyone else touch on is that the company won’t have any kind of a dev support team. The company probably won’t have anyone who properly knows how to ‘own’ the and shape the product. If you don’t have a good manager, your time there will start rough. Expectations can get wild with non-technical people, and you’ll spend a lot of time managing those The company prob isn’t a tech company, so you’ll be forced to push really bad code quickly, and you’ll never be allowed to deal with tech debt. Everything you do will be for the sake of making money or pushing more features. Tech debt will pile up until it’s unmanageable

I feel the Godley High School Class Of 2024 shirt and I love this pressure to push code quickly. It fuckin sucks. Then when things go wrong it’s really stressful and I’m working weekends. As a guy who has been doing this professionally for only around ten months for a big ass company, I would definitely not feel comfortable being the only dev lol I’d say take the job if you need the money, but keep looking for something better. My first tech job was like this and it wasn’t great for my career. But, it was money. This. I am not happy with being somewhere like this but at the end of the day I’m still practicing my coding skills and getting paid and hopefully can find something when the job market isn’t absolute trash. My only fear is that I won’t have that “freshly” graduated status and lose out on opportunities bc I never got experience working in a real team
