1-13 whatever my parents bought; 14-19 emo chick; 20-23 pastel / cute feminine “core”; 24-27 clean, modern, minimalist, neutral look; 28-now (29) feminine minimalist, but instead of plain, flag clothing, I discovered I love patterns, textures (especially tweeds, boucle etc), jeans with patchwork or split hems, peplums really flatter my pear shape and asymmetrical tank tops make my outfits more interesting. The biggest shift for me has been pregnancies and living with small children. It’s not changed my style so much as the First I drink coffee then I do things T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this things I wear more often. Less going out, more crawling around on the floor pretending to be a horse or whatever, and you need different outfits for that. Plus pregnancy in general is a huge mind fuck in terms of what happens to your body so it’s made me less attached to some of my clothes in a way because I’m not wearing them forever – currently still dropping a pound or two a week from my last pregnancy and that’s making things tricky. So I guess it’s made me more creative as well.

In my teens and early twenties fashion for me was all about finding cool individual pieces of clothing and outfits for specific occasions (ex: what a wedding guest should wear vs what do I want to wear to a wedding). As in what would be the First I drink coffee then I do things T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this perfect outfit for a certain occasion rather than my personal preferences for that occasion. I value comfort a lot more now (looking great but being comfortable at the same time makes me feel rebellious haha). I value variety in clothes a lot less than I used to. Now I know what colours and patterns I like, what silhouettes I enjoy. I’ve been much more inclined to comfort and practicality over being “fashionable.” However, I still try to look as fashionable as I can within the comfort range 🙂 I also lean more toward neutral “mains” but still like to keep things interesting by keeping staple statement pieces or mixing colors and patterns in unexpected ways. Also, younger me wore way more graphic tees than I do now. If I wear graphic tees now, I’ll usually pair with a skirt or blazer or something to make it look a little more interesting. Way more likely to buy more expensive and timeless pieces as well because they last longer and don’t go out of style. I’ve become more conscious of what materials go into the garments I’m purchasing and being more mindful if a garment I’m considering matches other items in my wardrobe. If I have to buy more pieces to make a new purchase work, I’m not like to wear it because I may never get around to buying them.
