I’m not saying things weren’t bad behind the scenes, potentially. But the fact she lied about so much anyway, and then the evidence didn’t support the theory… didn’t add up to me. Her mum was also very nice and they just seemed like happy, normal people. Worked with someone who lied about everything. Her parents being divorced, her nan dying, where she went on holiday, just really random things that were completely unnecessary. She was actually fine to chat to but everyone got fed up with her because you’d be having a perfectly nice conversation with her and then she’d lie for no reason. She was always contradicting herself and forgetting who she told what to so it was really obvious.

A guy I worked with (who was in his 40s, so not a young dickhead) insisted that his mum, who was 74, had a rally prepped Mitsubishi Evo, complete with anti-lag, full roll cage, sequential gearbox etc. It was her daily driver, apparently. I once had an appointment to visit a business, the office was in his (very large, very lovely) home. He offered coffee and said “only Nescafé instant, I’m afraid” (presumably, I thought, because it wasn’t a ‘proper’ coffee, I wasn’t bothered, it’s what I drank at home). The coffee came and it was clearly a cheap supermarket own brand type coffee. Obvs, I didn’t comment but I’ve always thought it an odd thing for him to lie about. If he’d not said anything at all, it wouldn’t have entered my head to think anything of the coffee I was given!
She calls all fabric softener Comfort, so i’ll sometimes get a shopping list that includes “Fairy Comfort” instead of “Fairy softener”. & when Costco only has actual Comfort instead of Fairy, I end up texting something like “they’ve only got Comfort Comfort instead of Fairy Comfort, do you want that instead?” Yes, like washing up liquid is always fairy and every vacuum cleaner is a hoover! Not thought of that as, tbh, everyone I know would always make instant coffee unless we were being ‘posh’!! The boss then told me “it is only her second week, she is doing extremely well”. Anyway, one day, we were hanging around near the health centre and my friend pointed out the plaque commemorating the poor little lad that died. Our new friend started crying and told us that it was him and that he died as a child and was brought back to life after he was pronounced dead by accident and that him and his parents had to go away for a bit and come back when it had quietened down. Me and another friend said what he was saying was sick and he ran home crying and told his parents that we were bullying him. He doubled down on the lie and my mum had to have a meeting with his mum at school to iron it out. Needless to say I left him behind but some of my ex friends stayed close with him until they found out he also lied about having cancer. Weird guy. Would love to know what he’s doing now.
