The main things that solved these issues were: 1.) he was assigned major household responsibilities that HAVE to be done to keep the Dave Chappelle’s Rick James Slap Comic Strip Parody shirt also I will do this house moving. In our house, that was dishes, baby baths, outside work (I pick up dog poop), and trash. I’m responsible for everything else but he is solely responsible for thinking about these tasks (including reminding me when we need soap, trash bags, like all of that kind of stuff to do these tasks) and doing them as needed. These are super adjustable obviously but I hate doing these tasks and he hates doing the tasks I do so that’s why we split them like this lol. 2.) this is controversial but we decided together that unless something serious and bad happens (see first paragraph), we wanted to stay together for the kids. Financially and emotionally we wanted to be in the same house so we didn’t give up time with them and we didn’t have to sacrifice this or that purchase for them or spend our time hashing that out. We also don’t have to be “the perfect couple” at the end of the day, we just need to keep the commitment and mutual respect/love for the other as a coparent and person. Once we took the “will we won’t we” of divorce off the table, a lot of the temporary day to day problems seemed stupid to fight about. We’re in this and we don’t want to be miserable every day so let’s get through it together. I was able to approach problems more logically and pick my battles and he was a lot more receptive because I wasn’t just picking fights about every little thing that didn’t even make sense. 3.) I got on a mood stabilizer – super personal approach but helped with the hormone shifts. 4.) we forgave each other for a lot of things and stopped bringing them up 5.) time and sleep – our older kid is a lot more manageable now that she’s consistently sleeping, we worked out a routine that actually works over time, and seeing how this parenting thing works day by day took some of the doom and gloom out of the hard days for me.

Obviously we’re still new at this too so take all of this with a grain of salt because I am NO expert.
