Our the landlord for our old neighbour’s place had their entire ground-floor tanked and gave us no warning about it whatsoever. That involved builders taking every wall back to bare brick, then having ~4000 holes drilled into them including the party wall. It took, iirc, about two or three months and we were at home for all that time. The first week was the worst – the noise would set our dogs barking as well – but after that us and the dogs did slowly get used to it, (although it was almost impossible to have a conversation on the phone or have the TV or radio on while they were working). Good quality music headphones (playing white noise or ambient, if you prefer that to tunes) with noise cancelling headphones on top works alright. You can talk to your neighbours about their schedule and see if they can adjust it, if the trade-off would work for you: i.e. ask if they can have no work on your WFH day, or no works after 4pm – but they’d be doing it at a different time or it’d make the project last longer. I think it is extremely reasonable to request no works on Saturday.
