I’m a retail assistant manager. Some crazy woman was screaming at me for an id she lost at my store on a week I wasn’t working. Customer(mid 60s male)got mad at me over cranberry juice. Had a customer call me a faggot and throw a 6 pack of Dr Pepper bottles at my head (I ducked) because she asked me to double bag the said six pack and I told her I would as soon and she grabbed the bags that were clogging the bag wheel. Had her arrested for assault. I mean I am a lesbian so faggot isn’t a word that blatantly hurts me anymore but I’ll never understand POC that are bigoted or racist towards other oppressed groups. Like you deal with racism on a daily basis and you’re STILL gonna be hateful/racist/homophobic garbage? The policy/practice of calling another manager if you don’t like the answer the first one gave you is absolutely bananas! That very first manager that responds to the call should be the final word. After that the customer should either happily accept that one final answer or they should take their toys and go home. AND as long as the associate is adhering to policy, the manager should always do the same and back them up!

I sighed and told her I worked and helped out over there sometimes, I could probably help her if she would just please tell me what she needed. She begrudgingly tells me that she’s looking for this specific pie filling, she’s looked everywhere and she can’t find it. I told her okay, let’s go over there and look. I’ll bring my scanner and I can check if we have any in the back. Oh no, that’s not good enough, she’s already looked everywhere and she wants answers as to where her pie filling went to. I said okay, well, I’m gonna go over there and look just in case someone else asks me for it, you can follow me if you want or not I don’t care. She huffs and puffs and follows me over there, complaining to the guy that this is a pointless waste of time. I walked directly to the baking aisle and bent down and grabbed a can of the illusive pie filling and asked her “is this what you were looking for?” She rips it out of my hand and says yes, but we need to stop moving everything around because this is a stupid place for it… In the baking aisle, surrounded by all the other pie making things, where it’s always been. The guy quietly apologized again and thanked me then ran to catch up with the ever-ranting old lady as she was already zooming angrily off somewhere else.
