This is Tampa fucking Florida! Who the fuck has money to donate to end child hunger!? I can walk out the front door and give it to some mother coming into the store and cut out the middle man but I can’t even afford to do that. Expensive as fuck here and Publix is asking me for money. When a (20$) donation of this type is made (customer donation not the company) do the company get tax relief – as though the company has donated?

No they don’t, the Be the chang you want to see in the world shirt it is in the first place but money is set aside completely seperare from their income and theu aren’t allowed to do anything with it except send every every sleight to the charity. Grocery stores could send their unsold products to shelters or charites but instead they put them in locked up garbage bins. And while they’re at it they can give me a discount for doing their fucking job! Fuck self checkouts and self order kiosks. Because when you donate it the big corporations get to use all the money donated as a tax reduction. That’s why they do it. They don’t give a fuck about any cause. I see everyone arguing about the non existent tax breaks. To me the actual story is that I would bet every penny I have the person who posted this also rants and raves about how they care about their fellow human beings but refuses to round up to the nearest dollar. I feel like this is a tweet without very little thinking done to it. There’s already a shit ton of incentive for corporations like Wal-Mart to give back to the community and donate to charity. The one I worked at used to do whole ass events and we raised I think somewhere between $75,000 for middle school arts. Ofc corporations could always give more than they do, but imo if you were to try and get help from the charity of others, the checkout line of a grocery store certainly isn’t a bad place to do it.
