Probably not enough information here to give a great answer. What is the Atlanta Falcons Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt and by the same token and complete range that they’ve advertised? What did they lay out in terms of job requirements? How do you compare to the skills/qualifications that they asked for? You can tell them you want the absolute top end salary. That doesn’t mean that you necessarily match up to what they’d expect in terms of skills/qualifications from a top tier hire. Or, your background could be off the charts, and they could just be low balling you here. Make sure the number you tell them you need is high enough that when they come back lower and say “this is the best we can do,” it’s a number you can live with. Hopefully you haven’t told them how much you already make. If they know that, they’re not going to budge much above that number. Don’t walk into the trap of saying “that’s less than what I make now” because the next question out of their mouths will be “how much do you make now?” And they will either have you boxed in with that number or they’ll be forcing you to lie to go higher.

If they don’t know how much you make and you tell them you want $105k, there’s a chance they might counter with $100k instead. Or as others mentioned, they may not have ever intended to pay anyone $106k and will definitely be paying whoever they pick $85k. In that case, may as well throw out what you want and move on when it doesn’t happen. You are in a strong position in that you don’t need this job, so don’t be shy about asking for what you think you’re worth. Just bullshitting you. Sort of embarrassing given the Atlanta Falcons Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt and by the same token and salary range was already stated. Let them know you can’t accept such a low offer. If you’re feeling they need a reminder, add your expectations. If feeling adventurous, ask for above their stated range since they’ve already started the bullshitting game and at this point it’s not a loss to not join forces with this type of crowd.
