Things started to go wrong for the Your text here Halloween shirt Additionally,I will love this Japanese immediately. The Philippines are made up of many islands, with narrow straits between them. A WWII battle fleet defending a strait has a huge advantage over the attacker. This would be demonstrated early in the morning on the 2nd day of the battle, when the smaller Southern Japanese force would fall into a trap and be annihilated by the 7th fleet’s battle line. Moving in single file through the Surigao Strait, they were forced to endure torpedo attacks from light warships and then advance into the broadside fire of the entire American and Australian battle line, and sank or fled quickly. This was the last battle between big gun battleships in history.

But what had happened with the Your text here Halloween shirt Additionally,I will love this Yamato? The day before Surigao Strait, Kurita’s force had been detected by US Submarines in the Sibuyan Sea. A pair of subs then launched torpedo attacks, sinking several smaller ships including Kurita’s flagship. Kurita was picked up out of the water and set up shop on Yamato. The US subs of course hadn’t kept the location of the Japanese fleet to themselves, and soon air attacks from the 3rd Fleet’s carriers arrived. They concentrated their fire on Musashi and after an incredible barrage of bombs and aerial torpedos, the enormous ship sank. Kurita turned the fleet back eastward and the Americans lost the trace in the night. Convinced Kurita was retreating, Halsey said something vague about leaving his battleship force to guard the troop transports, but then decided to head north to take out the decoy force. No one followed up on detaching the battleships, and the entire 3rd Fleet on scene left at high speed. About the time the Southern force was sinking to the south, tying up the only remaining American heavy warships left in the area, Kurita turned around again. Bu sunrise he was advancing into Leyte Gulf and the lightly protected US invasion fleet was in front of him. The remaining American force of warships, called Taffy 3, was a few light surface warships and small aircraft carriers built on cargo ship hulls. These Escort Carriers, designated CVEs (Combustible, Vulnerable and Expendable their crews would joke) were fueling and arming their planes to attack land targets or hunt for submarines. They launched their planes as quickly as possible with the wrong weapons, and the pilots bravely flew at the enemy knowing they could do little to hurt them. The light warships destroyers and smaller, slower destroyer escorts, counterattacked again and again, sailing close to the Japanese heavy ships and firing as fast as they could while the CVEs ran away. Somehow they held off the Japanese ships, fighting so fiercely that Kurita was soon convinced he was fighting against the 3rd fleet. Kurita ordered the retreat. Taffy 3 had lost several ships but had done the impossible, holding off the largest warship build up to that time.
