Would encourage anyone to work the 60 hours a week for 2-3 years or even more. You build a ton of skills, typically learn a lot, and if you live like you’re making 90-130k, at the end of 5 years at 200k, you’ll have the disposable income buffer saved up / invested that it would take you 10-15 years to do at the more “balanced job” Math: 100k less 25k in taxes, assume $50k in living expenses and save / invest 25k = 250k in ten years without accounting for raises / investment appreciation 200k salary less 65k in taxes, $60k in living expenses (allows for 10k for more professional wardrobe / lifestyle required by better job) = 75k annually to invest / save – you’re turning every one year worked into 3 years of output from the comfortable job.

But, I work 40/hr a week and if my kids get sick or I want to go on vacation, it’s not a problem. At the other job, I was expected to work 50 hours a week, minimum.
