We can just strap them down and its all just animals being animals, I mean were still helping them right? Yes, pretty much all animals, excepting some very neurologically simple ones like oysters and jellyfish, feel pain. We do not understand their nervous system but tests have shown they display adverse reactions to a previously applied “painful” stimuli I suppose they could get the “danger” signal and NOT feel pain but idk how that would possibly work, if it wasn’t unpleasant, they’d have no motivation to avoid something because it’s not like they’re mentally contemplating the cost/benefit of not exposing themselves to say, extreme heat People use to say “fish can’t feel pain! It’s just cartilage!” As if we know cartilage to NOT be painful when damaged (because it’s very painful, much moreso than like an earlobe) I’ve seen an ant writhe in pain…or at least do a very good imitation. I’m not willing to assume it wasn’t pain without solid, 100% proof that it’s not.
