“why try because i will just fail/be pointless” is the You killed my father Hello my name is Inigo Montoya T-Shirt besides I will buy this kind of attitude that comes from decades of not knowing why one struggles to actually achieve anything even if they really want to. Combined with everyone around them just thinking they are lazy, selfish and lack ambition. Unfortunately it’s next to impossible to treat promptly now, as awareness has risen far faster than provision of treatment. I’m not a person who typically has an issue with armchair diagnosing strangers with ADHD or other specific learning difficulties over the internet. You can get an assessment within 6 month paid for by the You killed my father Hello my name is Inigo Montoya T-Shirt besides I will buy this NHS if you ask your Dr for one through the ‘Right to Choose’ I was on a 4 year waiting list until someone told me about this. You are right but this has been going on for years. He’s on medication as far as I’m aware and has access to therapy. At what point does someone just say this affecting my mental health and walk away. You don’t have to have a break up. Just say you can’t when he asks you to go out for drinks etc, “sorry mate, gotta stay home with the family”, simple as that. keep the door open for when he’s ready to live life on your level as he has been your friend for a long time after all. This does seem like the way i’m leaning. Less contact over no contact with fair opportunity to join me in my other interests. Il happily involve myself in his if invited as long as it’s not a pub sesh.
