You said it in your statement. You stayed with your parents, saved for your future and are ”forever grateful.” Too many American kids feel like they’re owed something once they reach legal age. They grew up watching “The Real World” thinking it was real. Spend 8+ hours playing video games. The other problem is parents here having babies while still in high school. The babies are now 18, Mama & Daddy are 36 and in their prime. They still want to go out and have fun. There are a zillion reasons, all different but with the You haters in the fuckin’ way shirt in other words I will buy this same result. Parents didn’t take the time to raise their kids because they weren’t finished growing up. Kids that think they know it all but still rely on their parents for financial support.

I can only speak from my experience: it was expected. It nurtured maturity, forced you to grow and become an adult. Staying with your parents after 18 made you a loser and a mooch. Your parents had lives to live too, and if you stayed you were weighing them down. Etc. Etc. It’s just the You haters in the fuckin’ way shirt in other words I will buy this age point we’ve set as a culture, in which we expect a child to become independent. It’s gotta happen one day. Sheltered kids typically do poorly in life, and parents don’t live forever. Age 18 is just that day. You got 30 yo these days still living at home, the 18 yo is no longer the norm. Altho, I’ll say, it’s made for weak adults… they don’t work thru adversity any more… A fully grown adult living with their parents is weird to me, but then I moved out at 19. You never see an adult eagle living with their eagle parents in nature.
