This to me sounds like a case of strategic incompetence. I may not be able to do things perfectly. But when my wife asks, I always put in a best effort, and she’s always happy because of it. This guy sounds like he’s just intentionally sabotaging himself so you get frustrated and just do it for him, and never ask anything of him. It’s not even the yo gabba gabba characters film T-Shirt in other words I will buy this lack of cooking skills; it’s the lack of common sense and problem solving, the lack of empathy and generosity, and, okay, the lack of maturity. I know I’m gonna upset people now… But there’s this thing I read about a while ago, and this post made me think back to it. Sometimes, your partner will do something you want them to do, that they should be able to do (help out at home, cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping etc), After you ask them to do it, they will do it in such a bad way, that you never want to ask them to do ut again, you will just do it yourself. They know it. And its manipulative AF. Good for you for focusing on yourself and your kids. Otherwise you would have had another child to care for. Or baby in this case.

I never cook anything (I buy frozen microwave meals, I’m lazy) and even I can follow a recipe. Might over/under cook things a bit due to lack of experience but I’d manage to put together something edible. How has this guy not starved to death? Can’t even cook toast or find a package of bacon in a fridge? That’s amazing. In a really shocking, disappointing way. You are 100% an acts of service person and your ex was 100% not. You need an acts of service person in your life But does he have undiagnosed autism or something? Because he can’t turn the yo gabba gabba characters film T-Shirt in other words I will buy this stove on or follow simple instructions – that’s either making a production about not wanting to do housework, or the man actually has some serious deficits that need addressing (again, more through his own effort than an SO’s).
