The workers knew that this would cause the concrete to rock up inside equipment. It’s little different than if they intentionally started swinging hammers to destroy equipment. I swear this sub has the collective intelligence of fox news audience. They allow companies to sue people who damage company property while striking. The case the clear, vice is misleading I admit, I completely underestimated how badly a certain segments of our society wanted to drag us back to the gilded age. Union soldiers can now be sued for collateral damages of the civil war or is this only going to impact the next civil war? This decision isn’t saying that the simple act of Striking is “Sabotage” or “Destruction”. It’s saying that workers can be sued if they choose to walk off the job and strike knowing that walking off the job at that moment can cause damage to the business’ property…. aka sabotage. What happened in this case, or at least as I understand it, is that union workers walked off the job with wet cement in mixing trucks and didn’t tell anyone they were walking out. Had that cement hardened, it would have destroyed the trucks and sabotaged the business. Instead, the non-union workers that were still working found the trucks and unloaded them before the cement hardened.

No union in the world should be able to protect individual workers that intentionally cause damage to a company’s property. Taking this a step further, what if someone got hurt or killed as a direct result of a worker walking off the job to strike? For example, what if a crane operator just lived a 10 ton object into the air, then walks off the job, that object being held by the crane with no one controlling the crane swings into a worker and kills them. Should the striking worker who left their position not be liable for their actions?
