I went to Panama, where they use the Woodcrafting Education Is Important stars shirt it is in the first place but US dollar as currency, a few years ago. At one point, I got a $20 bill with a very slight tear in it from an ATM. NO ONE in Panama would accept this bill. I tried to spend it a bunch of times, but nope. In El Salvador the US dollar was the official currency until recently when it switched to Bitcoin. Interesting. We didn’t switch to bitcoin, bukele just forced a law that obligated businesses to accept it as a form of payment. Nobody uses btc though except for a tiny minority of the tourism sector. Day to day life is still transacted in dollars. Yep and your debit and credit card works with no foreign exchange fees. Depending on your bank you might not even get hit with a travel fee. I travel between el salvador and the US for work and when I’m in el salvador all my US bank stuff works like if I was in the US.

As a ecuadorian I can confirm, got a few of those on my pocket. Always thought they were made for us, like for everything around andean culture. A woman carrying her children in the back, just like that, it’s pretty common here (Peru and Bolivia too). With the humid climate they have to use coins, Bills don’t last long and often get all wet and gross when left in your wallet for a long period of time
