This gives me hope. I have an interview scheduled (Higher Ed) where I stated I wanted the Washington Huskies Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt and I love this top of their range, or higher. I was a little surprised they still wanted to interview me, and I hope if I get an offer I don’t get low-balled. I love Higher Ed, but left when I got a 40% increase in a different industry. I loved my job, but the pay was low. You don’t have anything to lose by asking for what makes sense for you. Just make your message clear. I want to work here, the people, organization etc are very appealing. I like everything about the offer with the exception of the salary offered. I expect something closer to 10 % above my current salary. Please advise if we have room to negotiate. ok, im gonna use a number line to illustrate, from right to left, your offer, my current pay, and my expectations for the position.

Like “I have X amount of experience, i have experience with this particular thing, can you help me understand how you came to this number? It’s very low compared to my expectations and other offers” A desirable candidate is willing to accept what they’re offering you, so they’re seeing if they can get you for the Washington Huskies Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt and I love this same. Hiring manager is concerned about raises, if you come in at the top of the range and there isn’t budget to raise you might not be happy long-term. I don’t lowball people. I have a range that a position and level will pay, and unfortunately that range isn’t set by me. However I do request of TA that a smaller range be published that’s more indicative of what base salary I’ll offer.
