There are a lot in the reddit who simply enjoy practicing, so even posts for free commissions typically get multiple submissions. And for the paid/tip aspect you don’t owe everyone who submits- just the one you pick! So you have your pick of the litter with no prior commitment. A good, reputable photographer is not going to give you the RAW images. It just isn’t going to happen. Not saying that he is a reputable photographer based on his interactions with OP, but I highly doubt that he will send out the RAW images. 99% of photographs will not. OP should ask for a re-shoot and emphasize the types of images they want included in the delivery, such as more with her included, baby not crying, etc. if he will not do this, she may have to dispute the charges with the bank and say that they did not get the service that they paid for, and get the money back. Oh, I wasn’t aware! My brother happens to be a photographer/videographer and he always offers RAW photos for an addition price. So, I was simply going off my knowledge of how he operates.

Asked him prior to making this comment, and he said he does this because it clearly shows the Vote Like Your Daughter’s Rights Depend on it stars retro T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this work that went into the edited photos in his packages. He said he works with a lot of clients in the art industry that have their own editors, but knows it isn’t an “industry standard.” As for OP asking for a reshoot? I don’t see a world in which that ends with a positive result; at least not with this “photographer.” They don’t have a portfolio, or anywhere to leave reviews of his work, and thus wouldn’t stand to gain anything by doing so. Considering how poorly he did when he was actively being paid… I don’t see it being a productive endeavor. A lot of the final work is done in the editing process and the raw photos may not fully reflect the talent of the photographer. It’s like a master chef giving the customer the ingredients to their famous meal. What they get isn’t the finished, high quality product that they are known for and it could negatively affect their reputation.
