In all seriousness, not being afraid to hold students back who did not measure up. We do students a major long term disservice by passing them along when they have not shown mastery of the Vote Books Fist Ovaries LGTBQ RBG T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this subjects. Once students start to realize there aren’t standards that are followed through, close to nothing will work in my opinion. Kids are short sighted. So they won’t respond to the age old “you’re jeopardizing your future” but they will be more likely to respond to “you will not continue with your friends in the next grade” I teach high school science. My students struggle with reading comprehension, sounding out new science vocabulary (even not that difficult of words like “trough”), writing complete sentences, graphing (times 1000), simple math calculations, understanding math word problems and solving simple equations (plugging and chugging).

Some things I am trying: 1.More textbook, article and notes reading assignments. They have to read and find answers or summarize what they’ve read. 2. Requiring most assignments to be written in complete sentences for full credit. 3. Vocabulary games every day 4. Explicit instruction and modeling of graph making and interpretation. 5. Collaborative math practice – everyone in a group does the Vote Books Fist Ovaries LGTBQ RBG T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this calculations for a lab, and they check answers with each other. I even overhear conversations about why some answers don’t make sense – like they are thinking about it. I get that we are not responsible for the general state of education, but we ARE in a position to make a difference. Completely closing the gap is unrealistic and too much to ask from us, but I will teach the kids in front of me – and not the ones I wish I had.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
