Why would you call a wii emulator dolphin when that was the Viva Mexico Cabrones Shirt and I love this project name for the Gamecube. Maybe cuz it didn’t have anymore graphical power? Do you guys thing Nintendo could one day won the “war” and nuke all of their emulators? Dont know a single thing of how that would work or look but that thought terrifies me Then the same people who will only pirate Nintendo games, will still not buy Nintendo games. Until Nintendo realizes they are fighting a losing battle nothing is going to change. But at this point nintendo is too far gone for me to willfully give money to after taking 30% of Bowser’s paychecks for the rest of his life baring he doesn’t leave canada and the out of the legal enforcement. They don’t mind people not buying their game, they just don’t want people that don’t buy their games have access to it.

They can never stop it though. There’s always going to be peer to peer file sharing if not online then even trough snail mail on physical media. Plus a lot of people doing it also own those very games. I hope this doesn’t continue. Dolphin on Steam seems kind of pointless though, no? It’s already got its own app/launcher or whatever it’s called. The question is whether Nintendo would truly pursue legal action in this case—and if it did, what would happen. Not sure they would win. The emulator doesn’t come with any games – everything Nintendo holds ownership of is excluded from the dolphin software (which is proprietary and owned by its own developers). They’d be suing on the grounds that the tool COULD be used for illegal purposes, like pirating copywrited games… but that would be a hard battle. You can’t prove a crime that hasn’t happened on grounds of probability alone. It gets even worse because dolphin is a free platform – they don’t make money off it. And on top of it all, Nintendo doesn’t have any damages to sue for because they don’t sell Wii games anymore to begin with. TL:DR – All this to say, they don’t actually want to sue for a case they can’t win… they just want to intimidate small devs with the IDEA they could sue because of funds they COULD throw at it. It’s purely an intimidation tactic. Ok legit question, does the dolphin function as anything other than an emulator for Nintendo? If so is the other function its primary purpose?
